Cuisinart DLC-8S 11-Cup Pro Custom 11 Food Processor, White
Review excerpt:I've used my Cuisinart fairly hard - I make mustard (from mustard seed) on a small scale for sale at a farmer's market. I've had it for six or seven years now, so mine may not be identical to this model. But the number and the specs are. You can swamp the machine in too much liquid - I can process up to about four cups of fairly liquid stuff, but no more or I have an overflow to deal with. A dishwasher does a good job of cleaning the bowl and knife, and the knife has held its edge well. The bowl has a certain number of scratches after heavy use. I've hardly ever used the plastic blade - even for dough, I use the steel blade. I have a few shredding/slicing disks, which have seen a reasonable amount of use for large scale salads, turkey stuffing, and sauerkraut. (sp?) It doesn't dice. There's no technique by which true dice can be made in a food processor. You could use the processor to slice or even julienne and finish by hand, but it's too fussy. Review excerpt:The knives are not the quality you would normally expect from Cuisinart. Steak knives are thin, bent and overall crappy. I received 4 steak knives and 4 extra 4.5" utility knives, which are much better quality. That and the price I paid ($70) were the reasons I did not sent the set back. Review excerpt:We found that the paper filters just wouldn't stay upright overnight in the basket, resulting in unattended surprise overflows and a great deal of "sediment" in the coffee and everywhere else. This filter is made for this model and fits like a glove, have yet to see one ground in my cups and the rest of the household has yet to declare any. As for taste, we haven't noted any true appreciable difference, even using high grades of coffee which are distinctive, nor in the occasional purchase of more standard grades of coffee beans. All in all, I give this five stars, for a number of reasons: Far easier to "change" the filter when you have just gotten out of bed, having forgotten to set the coffee timer the night before, just dump out old grounds and sleepy fumble the filter back, rather than the floppy paper ones wrangling; Environmentally friendly, self explanatory; Cost effective over long run, those paper filters add up; Never having to find yourself needing coffee but sans filter again and looking at the roll of paper towels for rescue; Saves space on counter and/or in the cupboard, as you don't have to store paper filters; Last but not least, I am so sick of trying to pick just ONE paper filter at a time out of the stack and coming out with multiples, more of that pesky fumbling, since they don't just pop out one like a Kleenex box does. So, in conclusion, very worth it and I recommend it. Review excerpt: I have been looking for a stainless wok for sometime. I did not want a non stick finish as when heated too hot they produce fumes that can be toxic to pet birds.
